Playing for Pride: the Dynamo Dublin FC

In Dublin and throughout Ireland it is difficult to find a pub that does not display sport gadgets. Gaelic football and Hurling flags are shown continuously, but football remains the most popular game.

Not only does football provide a basis for physical fitness and healthy living, but it also captures the interest of people of all ages all over the world.

It is this unique ability to engage people and bring them together that makes sport the perfect catalyst for development projects and paved the way for development organisations and major football institutions.

For example, Dynamo Dublin FC was founded under name of Soviet Union FC in 2002 following these principles: promote and develop the game of Association Football among its members, foster a spirit of friendship and good social interaction and support the overall development of sporting activities among the Russian speaking community.

This club was later renamed Dynamo Dublin. Most of the players are Russians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians and Irish – basically people with similar outlook on life.

Currently the team has two captains Viktor lnitskyy and Maksim Sitenok and the club has about 70 members and all club officials are working on a voluntary basis.

In the 2009-2010 season, the team won the cup which is called «Show Racism The Red Card» and the slogan was “Racism is a red card!”.

The Dynamo Dublin FC has two junior teams with Russian-speaking children but the training is conducted also in English.

Three years ago, the kids won the league of Ireland, and they were invited to the «Barcelona Football Festival», which took place in May 2011.

 10th Anniversary Celebration

10th Anniversary Celebration

This collective work has shown that football can transcend the barriers of gender, nationality and ethnicity, this is why this association also organises Russian music competitions, annual auto rally and events such as “fun starts” for the whole family. The Organisation receives financial support for such development projects.

TRANSLIT approves this active way of life and supported the team a few years back by purchasing their uniforms as part of its marketing campaign for talks.ie, one of the company start-ups.

Alex Chernenko, CEO of TRANSLIT, was invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the club with the team for which he provided music and sound equipment while sharing happy moments with Dynamo Dublin FC. These were Alex’s comments after the celebration:

“I personally know the captain and played friendly soccer with Viktor and other Dynamo Dublin’s players a few times many years ago. I am proud to see how the team progressed and that I personally know some of them.”

TRANSLIT wishes the Dynamo Dublin FC an awful lot of victories in the games to come.
